Federal Term Limits Ok; However Article V Convention Potentially Dangerous27 May 2020
|
Term limits of federal offices are a necessary step to reigning in the power of the federal government. Such action could potentially prevent the future McConnells, Pelosis, Schumers, and Grahams from dominating our nation. This must be accomplished through federal legislation or the precedented Constitutional Amendment process, not an Article V Convention of States, for which political action committees are manipulating states to support. An Article V Convention would expose the entirety of the United States Constitution to the whims of a few special interest groups. Such a method would likely leave us with an entirely new document lacking the freedoms and protections we all deserve. While I strongly believe we must limit the number of terms our federal officials can serve, we must never allow an opportunity for our rights to be recklessly dismissed. Know that I will defend our Constitutional Rights - all of them, for every citizen.
