Workers have the right to organize into labor unions. Those unions represent the best interest of the employee. “Right to Work” legislation, a law that is designed to undermine worker opportunities, should be repealed. While unemployment rates have decreased, Indiana wages have failed to keep pace with the rest of the nation. Prevailing wage should be reinstated to ensure Hoosier excellence and a fair opportunity for Indiana contractors. Quality workers demand quality wages.
Indiana Labor & Workforce Development
Hoosier workers deserve a legislator who shares their values and will fight for their interests. As a Career and Technical Education, I take pride in giving students a step up on entering the workforce or continuing their training. An active member of my local teachers’ union, I serve on bargaining and District Council. Labor unions promote worker safety, provide training, and increase wages for their members. They increase the quality of life for all working families, not just union workers. As State Representative, I will fight to:
- Reinstate Common Construction Wage to provide quality wages for quality work
- Pursue penalties against unscrupulous contractors who mis-classify employees
- Repeal so-called “right to work” legislation that has attempted to silence the voice of workers
- Promote Career and Technical Education to prepare students for the skilled trades
