Municipalities and local school boards should be able to preserve control over many decisions when prudent. State policy should allow varied communities to administer resources as they see fit. Evansville is different from Gary. Rural is different from urban. Rural communities should not be competing with urban communities for funding. These unique areas should be recognized as communities with different needs and given the freedom to allocate resources to areas most beneficial to their citizens.
The government closest to the people is best suited to serve the people. Across our state, there are a great amount of differences. It is for this reason, that a majority of issues should be handled locally rather than with blanket mandates from Indianapolis. We must work to stop the power grabbing moves of current office holders, which has taken away the voice of our local communities. As your representative for District 75, I will fight to:
- Maintain the existing township system.
- Place more control in the hands of local school boards.
- State agencies must confer with local officials in planning of projects.
