Russ Stilwell Endorses John Hurley for State Representative |
31 January 2020
During my tenure in the Indiana legislature and leadership position as House Majority Leader (1996-2010) I had the privilege of recruiting candidates. John Hurley, the recently announced candidate for State Representative in District 75, would have been at the highest level for recruitment.
He possesses all the qualities that make a great candidate and terrific state representative. You need two important attributes to be the best: Passion on issues and Work Ethic. John has both in abundance.
John is and has been a public education leader. As a 10-year education professional and lifelong resident of Southern Indiana, John has the knowledge and passion concerning the number one issue in our state – the survival of public education and retention of our teachers. There is no greater issue this year, or any other year, than the education of our kids and survival of public education.
John is not a novice on other issues either. He understands and extolls knowledgeable positions on a myriad of issues: Conservation, Energy, Roads, Taxes, Labor and much more.
As a 10-year public school professional John earns a salary of $41,000 per year. He knows what it’s like to work extra jobs to supplement his income: Working school events, bus driver for events, clean buses and so much more. Yes, John is just like most of the folks who work and live in District 75, which includes most of Warrick County and portions of Spencer and Pike County.
Isn’t it about time to elect someone who personifies our community?
With the retirement of the Republican incumbent in District 75 it’s way past time to pass the torch to a new generation of leaders. John Hurley is that new leader.
